What does Sweet Pillar mean?

We chose the name Sweet Pillar because the Date Palm tree reminds us of pillarsgrand and royal standing tall. Dates are a staple in most middle eastern desserts so naturally its a staple in all of our products. When looking at date farms, the tall beautiful palm trees look like pillars, sweet pillars at that and the name was born.

How did Sweet Pillar begin?

Cooking and baking is a family tradition. Our founder, Nadia, decided to take her family traditions and make them available to all after finding her late grandmothers Mamool wooden molds (the special mold used to make Mamool cookies). Her late grandmother resided in Damascus and would constantly make desserts and ship them to Nadia. After going from store to store trying to find something that even semi resembles the quality and taste of her grandmothers baking she decided to take her recipes and make them available to everyone that wants to experience a piece of Damascus. She still uses her grandmothers recipes in addition to her special wooden Mamool mold.

Are the products all natural?

Yes all of our ingredients are all natural and locally grown.

Are the products certified organic?

What are Mamool cookies?

Mamool cookies are a special kind of shortbread cookie stuffed with either pistachios, dates, apricot or various nuts. They are a staple in the Middle East. Families spend days making mamool cookies before holidays such as Christmas, Easter, Ramadan and Eid. A special wooden mold is used to create intricate pattern design on the top of the cookie.

Do I need to refrigerate my Bon Dates?

No, although if you do they will last longer. Dates and chocolate have a very long shelf life (up to a year). If you do refrigerate them the chocolate will start looking grey, do not worry, that does not mean theyʼve gone bad, it just means the chocolate is cold. You should keep it out at room temperature before consuming.

What about the Mamool cookies?

The cookies do not contain eggs so no need to refrigerate them. They taste so good that theyʼll probably be done before you can even think about refrigerating them! I love Sweet Pillar, how do I keep in touch for the latest news and updates! The best way is through our facebook fanpage at www.facebook.com/sweetpillar.
